Parcels : Live Vol.2

It’s infectious. It’s hot. It’s Parcels

From start to finish you can’t help but groove.  For those of you who have seen the band live, you know that they know how to party.  Listening to this album takes you to the mindset of being in a club and not wanting the night to end. 

This album consists of 12 tracks and each one deliciously melts into one another. Each member’s musicianship and discipline is highly notable.  Their harmonies and vocals are riveting. Sometimes there's a standout vocal and other times it sounds like one angelic being. The syncopation and accents create groovy tension that you could listen to forever. It’s amazing how they have the ability to reinvent and take their existing tracks to the next level. 

“Reflex” into “Iknowhowyoufeel” into “Gamesofluck” is a cathartic experience. In their second album Day/Night, “Reflex” is performed at a slower pace with a beautiful orchestral arrangement in the background. This time around, it’s faster but still packed with the same strong emotions. You can feel and hear the passion between each member and their instrument. Every note, every beat, every verse feels fervent. 

“Iknowhowyoufeel” (“iknowhowifeel” originally) and “Gamesofluck” (personal favourites) continue to blow my mind. Both have had their original studio recording and have featured on Live Vol 1. On this latest album, Iknowhowyoufeel is more mature and sexy. It’s the point at the club when you really connect with someone or something amongst the strobe lights and dancing bodies. 

Gamesofluck this time around feels like a sweet release. In comparison to the previous two versions, their techno twist hits all the right notes. The iconic “huh” feels more intentional. Their years of experience and touring  as a five piece continue to make them one of the strongest performers of the decade. 

Parcels are meant to be blasted on large speakers. You are to allow their music to take you over, consume you, and vibrate through your bones.
